DAY 1

Arrival in Leh

  • Upon arrival at the Leh airport, you will be met with our representative who will assist you to your hotel. Check-in and have breakfast
  • After lunch, the day will be free for you to rest in order to adjust to the high altitude of Leh
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

Liker Monastery

DAY 2

Leh – Lamayuru – Kargil (216 km, 6-7 hours)

  • After breakfast, drive to Lamayuru. Enroute, visit the Likir Monastery which is situated on a small hill and houses a 75 feet statue of Maitreya Buddha, Also visit Hall of Fame Museum.  Lunch will be served on the way
  • Later, visit the Moon Landscapes and the Lamayuru Monastery, situated atop the Meditation Hill
  • Head to Kargil, it is the second largest town in Ladakh after Leh. Check in and relax at the hotel.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Alchi Monastery

DAY 3

Kargil – Leh (216 km, 7 hours drive)

  • In the morning, following breakfast,  check-out from the hotel
  • A quiet town now, in the past it served as an important trade and transit center for the Central-Asian merchants due to its unique equidistant location (about 200-230 kms) from Srinagar, Leh and Skardo.
  • Join the celebrations of Independence Day at Kargil. Feel the pride of being an Indian, in 1999 the area saw infiltration by external forces. They were repulsed by India in the Kargil War. The area that witnessed the infiltration and fighting is a 160 km long stretch of ridges overlooking this only road linking Srinagar and Leh. The military outposts on the ridges above the highway were generally around 16,000 ft. high, with a few as high as 18,000 ft.
  • Post-independence day celebration Visit ‘KARGIL WAR MEMORIAL’ built by the Indian army following the war with neighboring Pakistan in the late nineties is frequented by travelers plying the highway connecting Srinagar to Leh. The memorial houses some of the major sequence of events that happened during the course of the war along with details of the Indian army personnel, who sacrificed their lives in the process of recapturing some of the peaks occupied by the Pakistan army; like the Tiger Hill and Tololong.
  • Lunch will be served en route.
  • On your way back to Leh visit the Magnetic Hill, Salute a hill near Leh that attracts metal thereby increasing the speed of nearby vehicles and the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, said to be the site where Guru Nanak annihilated a demon.
  • Head your way back towards Leh, visit Alchi monastery, and Sangam (Confluence of River Indus and Zanskar).
  • Check in at your hotel in Leh.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

Sand Dunes of Hunder

DAY 4

Leh – Nubra Valley via Khardung La – Sand Dunes of Hunder (130 km, 5 hours approximately)

  • Today, following breakfast,  check-out from the hotel and head North towards Nubra Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers or Ldumra
  • On the way, you will cross the famous Khardung La (18,380 feet), the highest motorable road in the world. Have lunch on the way
  • On arrival at the camp/resort, check-in. Then, visit the popular Sand Dunes of Hunder, known as the ‘the desert in the sky’, where you can ride a double-humped Bactrian camel (optional and on direct payment basis)
  • Dinner and overnight at the camp/resort

DAY 5

Nubra Valley – Turtuk – Nubra (80 km, 2.5 hours drive one way)

  • Following an early morning breakfast, embark on an adventurous journey driving through spectacular landscape into the realms of the Balti dynasty, to the quaint village of Turtuk
  • Turtuk is the last village, the village is located at an altitude of around 9,846 feet and is inhabited by the Balti people of Tibetan decent. This beautiful village is located on the edge of the Shayok Valley which is the part of the Nubra valley
  • Turtuk was only open to travelers in 2010, just a few kilometers away from LOC, between India and Pakistan, now on the Indian side, until the year 1971, Turtuk was under the control of Pakistan
  • Have lunch in Turtuk and return back to Nubra Valley
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

Deskit Monastery

DAY 6

Nubra Valley – Diskit Monastery – Leh (155 km, 6 hours one way)

  • After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the Diskit Monastery, known for its impressive Maitreya Buddha statue. Then, you will go back to Leh. Don’t forget to click a picture next to the signboard which says ‘Khardungla Top – 18,380 feet- the highest motorable road in the world’
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

Departure from Leh

DAY 7

Departure from Leh – Delhi

  • Today will be the last day of your Leh Ladakh tour package
  • Early in the morning, after breakfast (not included), you will be transferred to Leh airport to your board flight back to Delhi
