DAY 1

Kolkata/ Delhi – Imphal

  • Welcome to the ‘Jewel of India’. We receive you at the Imphal airport and take you to your hotel. After a relaxed lunch, we will go for a unique exposure/experience that connects the cosmology of ancient Manipuris to the game of modern polo.
  • We drive to Heingangching, which is located at Heingang, Imphal East, around 10 km from the heart of Imphal. Atop the hill is the shrine of the deity Ipudhou Marjing. There are many miniature horse figurines at the stairs, in front of the deity and also on the entire wall showcasing it. The deity looks majestic—huge, clad in layers of clothes and garlands, with parasols at each side and a canopy of white and gold hanging from above. Lord Marjing is a deity associated with Sagol Kangjei (Polo) and horses. It is said that he was the first to ride a pony, and is known as ‘God of the horses’. People offer horses, polo mallets (kangjei) and horse figurines for his blessings.
  • Back from Heinganching, we go to the Sangai Festival venue for some great cultural experience. Meals (Lunch/Dinner)

The INA Museum here contains letters, photographs, badges of ranks and other memorabilia that tell the story of the sacrifices made by the INA under the leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

After the visit, we check into the beautiful Sendra Resort atop Sendra island.

  • Post lunch, we will head to Keibul Lamjao National park—the one and only natural habitat of the Sangai in the world– to spot the elusive deer.
